One of the rules I really try to stick by when decorating my living spaces is 'find products that are exquisite and UNIQUE!' Something you look at and say WOW, what a find, this piece is so special! I understand why we all shop at the same old stores like Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath and Beyond etc....for the basics right? I get it, really I do...though I cringe at the thought of having the exact same home accents as every other person out there. Your home should communicate a look that is uniquely yours, don't you agree? We all have our own style right? So what better way then to accent it with items that are off the beaten path and just yours. Accessories you wouldn't find in your mother, mother-in-law, friend's, aunts, brother's, sister's, cousin's or neighbor's homes. Something that is uniquely yours! So that when your guests come over they 'Ohh' and 'Ahh' over these amazing pieces.
I am addicted to traveling about as much as I am to home decor, so when I travel to overseas destinations I always look for 'special' home accents that I'll worship for years to come. Pieces that I'll look at in my home and never tire of because I haven't seen them in anyone else's home. I own these two lamps for example, in my living room that I shipped home from my honeymoon in Thailand 7 years ago. I look at them and still love the detail in the carved Celadon base. And I can assure you no one owns a pair of these (that I know of anyway!)
